Category Archive: Teaching the Girls
it’s what we’re supposed to do
Washing one another’s feet. Serving each other.
If I remember correctly, it was one of those days. Bickering, fighting, you know what I’m talking about. So I brought the girls into the living room and told them it was time to have our Bible study.
I told them about when Jesus washed His disciples’ feet (John 13) and how He wanted to teach us to do the same. I thought it would be special for these sweet sisters to practice this on each other.
I had each little heart tell the other things they loved about them as they washed their feet, and we ended by praying that God would help all of us love and serve one another more like Jesus.
It was really special to see this action between these little best friends.
It amazes me that right before Jesus died on the cross, this was the action He took. To take a towel, and serve. He didn’t just say, “go and serve one another.” He did it. He took their dirty, stinky feet, and washed them. Each of them. And as difficult as it is for us a lot of the time, this is what we are to do.
“You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”
