    happy birthday to my love!

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”

    Daniel 12:3

There isn’t a better verse that so perfectly describes my husband.  God has given him such wisdom and courage and strength, and the way he uses his gifts and wisdom and strength for the glory of the Lord and for the fame of Jesus Christ continually amazes my little heart.  Levi lives out what he preaches, and I really do wish everyone knew him like our daughters and I do, because he’s even more funny and honorable and amazing at home.

He courageously leads me and our home and our church. And walking through terrifying waters with him, God has used him so greatly to speak life and faith and love over me and I could not have gone through these last 503 days without him.

Levi Aaron Lusko, I love you more as each day goes by, and I’m overwhelmingly thankful for you and the day you were born.  It is a joy and honor and privilege to love you and respect you and serve you in the Lord all my days.

Happy birthday my love, my dove, you are wonderful!

    a decade of adventure together

    Library - 2053

Ten years. It’s crazy how time flies by, and at the same time scoots by like an inch worm.  Ten years married to Levi Aaron Lusko has flown, but it also feels like I’ve already spent a whole lifetime with him.

This adventure that God has brought us along is more than I could have ever even asked for or imagined.  Isn’t that just how God works?  In ways that exceed our wildest dreams?

Since high school, I had always wanted to marry a pastor and I had always wanted to be a missionary. And I am in awe  at how God brought me to the man that He did, a man with such intense passion and love and with the gift of evangelism and preaching and teaching the Word of God.  We are missionaries in Montana, and we are risking the ocean and giving this life all we’ve got until we die or until Jesus comes back for us!

While dreams have come true over and over again, even in our worst nightmare God has held us, and brought us closer in a depth we’d never know had we not walked through these waters (as much as I wish we could know this depth of intimacy without the pain).  I’m so thankful to God that we have Jesus as the center of our relationship, because abiding in Jesus is the only place to be, and without Him we can do nothing.

It’s an incredible honor and joy to get to be by Levi’s side – to serve God together, to raise these beauty girls together, to walk in grief for the rest of our days together, to laugh and to be weird together, to reach people stranded in sin find life and liberty in Christ…together.

I respect you greatly and love you deeply Levi Aaron Lusko.  You are my hero, my best friend, and the things God has shown me and taught me through you amaze me all the time. Thank you for patiently loving me, and thank you for leading me, and thank you for always always making me laugh.

Let’s keep doing this, in His strength, by His grace….together.  It’s so much better together.

“I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever.  Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it.  God does it that men should fear before Him.”  Ecclesiastes 3:14

    Like Father Like Daughter

    These two.

So similar in so many ways. Passionate, exuberant, wild, hilarious. They both wear their hearts on their sleeve, they both love life and live to get the most out of it. And on top of their personalities, Lenya looked the most like my husband.

About one month before Lenya suddenly went to heaven, she and my husband (on a daddy daughter date) had discussed how difficult it was to obey. She told him, “Daddy, I want to obey so bad, but it’s so hard sometimes!”

My husband explained how it was hard for him when he was young to obey, and it was still hard to sometimes obey God, but that it was possible because God helps us do what He wants us to do.

So they formed a little club. Because they both have the same initials L. A. L. They started the LLAAL club (Levi Aaron and Lenya Avery Lusko club) and they were both supposed to remind each other to obey even when it was really hard. They were in it together. How precious is this, right???  And now, they still are, Lenya’s just the one who has already finished the race and is now cheering him on from heaven to fight the good fight!

I love the special bond these two had. I love the special bond my husband has with each of his daughters.

And I love that this relationship he has with the Lenya lion hasn’t ended, it’s just on hold until that Day. And when that Day comes, we’ll have all of eternity in heaven to continue in these relationships that we have in Christ. Yearning. Longing. Waiting for that Day!

“…if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus… For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Consider yourself comforted if you know Jesus. And if you don’t, this is a great place to hear the truth, and to turn to Jesus, and to have the hope of heaven when you die, and the purpose of life now! So much love to you all!

And I love that regardless of what kind of earthly father we have, our perfect Father in heaven is making us more like Jesus until that Day.  It’s so comforting to know He is faithfully working on us, and He knows what He’s doing!

“…He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…”

    Philippians 1:6

    happy birthday mr. lusko

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.”  Proverbs 11:30

It’s my husband’s birthday, and I just want to mention a few things about this amazing, godly man who I get to live life with.

God has given him a very special, unique calling and He has equipped him with such wisdom and understanding and leadership that just leaves me in awe so often. My husband is able to balance and handle so many responsibilities and in the midst of that he is able to lead and care for his family with such tenderness. We absolutely risk the ocean, we’re snakebirds, we have a wild and adventurous and non-stop life, and what’s so beautiful is that my husband somehow threads through it all the priority of time spent with me, with his daughters and it’s wonderful.  He is able to work so hard and to rest real good for God’s glory.  And with the deep yearning and longing for heaven that has been ramped up in our souls, we know this life will soon be passed, and only what’s done for Christ will last.

I’m so thankful and so incredibly honored that I get to be married to such a man. That we get to serve God together, raise these beautiful girls together, lead a spectacular team and be a part of what God is doing with Fresh Life. It blows my mind everyday that we get to do this. God is so good, and I believe what is to come this next year for my husband is just going to be next level. There’s no stopping what God will do through a pastor who is fully surrendered to God, who loves Him and loves his family and his church, and Levi is this man, and I love him so.

    Happy birthday sweet heart!
